All is Merry and Bright at Powell Gardens

Evergy Festival of Lights returns for another spectacular season

Think there’s nothing to do at a botanical garden in the winter? Think again!

Powell Gardens, Kansas City’s botanical garden, bursts into bloom with breathtaking light displays during the 7th annual Evergy Festival of Lights (Nov. 16-Dec. 30*). Inspired by the festive season and natural
joy within the Gardens, discover a winter wonderland perfect for the whole family.

Don’t just take our word for it! One visitor said, “The best parts are the overall enjoyment by the entire group, beautiful lights, creative designs, easy walking pathway, engaging staff, and fun!”

Take a Stroll

While you may know Powell Gardens offers the perfect daytime stroll, a nighttime wander among the sparkling lights is a treat! Stretch your legs and discover dazzling lights and festive botanical displays. Purchase a pair of 3D glasses before embarking on your journey to add extra holiday fun.

Enjoy a Hot Beverage

There are plenty of warming opportunities before, during and after your journey. Hot chocolate and delicious apple cider await in the Visitor Center, Holly Jolly Rest Stop and the Peppermint Warming Station (Garden Galleries). Don’t forget to add extra warmth to your hot beverage with our special adults-only spikers. This adult favorite add-on will be available at select concession locations.

Discover Gorgeous Botanic Displays

Step into the winter world of plants with artistic botanical displays such as in the Peppermint Warming Station (Garden Galleries). The Peppermint Warming Station features the return of living peppermint plants and the poinsettia tree while the other side of Garden Galleries features the holiday-card worthy succulent tree. On your way to the Peppermint Warming Station, don’t forget to stop by the scenic Conifer Garden for a moment of calm during the hectic holiday rush.
